M said they looked like frogs
T said snails
My super smart hubs walked in the kitchen and said "cool, aliens". I knew I married him for a reason.

I think if I would have added legs it would have been easier for M/T to tell what they are. But I didn't have enough room on the plate since I used a sandwich round (because they need to be eaten up) instead of punching out a smaller circle from sliced bread. Ah, hindsight and all of that.

M: turkey & cheese / T: cream cheese & strawberry jam
grapes on pretzel rods for the eyes (cheese & fruit leather for the details)
apple stars, grapes and Trader Joe's yogurt stars

Yesterday while at Home Goods I found this super cute black cat pasta. It's all natural wheat & spinach pasta cat shapes. Here is their website- they have lots of different fun shapes. I decided to make T's bento lunch using the black cat as inspiration. Here's what he ate today:

cheddar cheese quesadilla cats, pasta, watermelon
& kiwi, pretzels & cheese dip, and grapes

provolone cheese eyes & teeth, blueberries for the
center of the eye and nori for the whiskers

black cat pasta sauteed with a bit of olive oil
and sprinkled with parmesan cheese

cheddar cheese quesadilla with provolone cheese
for the eyes & teeth, nori for the center of the eye & whiskers

sliced kiwi & watermelon shaped moons and "boo"

purple & green grape kabobs

what was left over -
the cheese teeth and some of the tiny quesadilla stars

after punching out my main shapes I always have a
bit left over,so I use a tiny cutter to make cute shapes
so I'll have as little waste as possible

lots of little stars and only a few scrapes left over

I can't believe that my child, the pickiest eater alive, actually ate nori! HE ATE SEAWEED! He tried one of the whiskers and declared "Oh wow, I love those yummy whiskers!" Pat on the back for me.

Bento of the Week

It's super rough as promised because all I'm working with right now are the existing big cookie cutters I already have. So, until my ordered tools come in I'm just going to make the best of it. Here is today's lunch. The kids thought they were great and ate every single thing on their plates (T even ate his cheese)!

M's Lunch:
butterfly turkey, swiss cheese & mustard sandwich (dried apricots for the antenna), dried snow peas and colby cheese star, and Trader Joe's yogurt stars & watermelon/apple fruity flakes

 T's Lunch:
Pepperidge Farm bagel flats w/cream cheese (Trader Joe's fruity flakes for eyes, grape nose, dried apricot mouth), grapes and colby cheese star, and Trader Joe's yogurt starts and watermelon/apple fruity flakes
