When T and I got back from the gym this afternoon a nice little package was waiting for us. My Goodbyn boxes arrived! It was a pleasant surprise as I was expecting them until the end of the week. Can't wait to try it out tonight when I pack M's lunch.

This morning after the gym and before starting school T and I went out in search of some silicone baking cups. The paper cups that I've been using are fine if the kids are home to eat lunch, but after making M's lunch last night and placing it in the fridge overnight this morning when I showed it to her the paper cups containing the fruit had wilted and were no longer standing upright. Plus, with a silicone baking cup there is no paper waste. I had the hardest time finding them! But, I found some other fun bento supplies while looking! We tried Target, Michael's (mini harvest cutters and some smaller halloween cutters), Party City (lots of food picks, Hello Kitty cutter and Halloween/Fall paper cups) and finally Party Depot (mini alphabet cutters, mini heart and star cutters).
My spirits weren't dampened for long though because when T and I finally got home the first box of my stuff from All Things for Sale had arrived. Talk about fast shipping! So impressed! I was like a kid on Christmas morning opening up the box and pulling all the goodies out. I was somewhat surprised about the size of the soy sauce bottles, I was thinking they would be a bit bigger, but we can make them work. I really love everything I ordered and can't wait to start using it... tomorrow!
After lunch and starting school we went to go pick M up from school. While talking to my mom earlier that afternoon I told her of my dilemma and she recommended Home Goods. We stopped by there on our way home and success! They only had 1 set of 6, all the same lime green color, but beggars can't be choosy. I'm thinking I'll end up ordering some more online, but for now these will do.
Side note: I can't believe that I've already missed taking a picture, but after making M's lunch last night I completely forgot to snap a pic. She had a soy nut butter & strawberry jam black cat and star sandwiches, cantaloupe, strawberries, Trader Joe's yogurt stars and gluten free pretzels.

I've found a new obsession hobby - bento lunches! In my quest to make sure my kids are eating healthy sometimes it's hard to get them to eat all their fruits and veggies. However, if they have a super cute lunch that's fun to eat I'm hoping it will solve the problem. I've been scouring the internet for hours and hours and have finally decided to take the plunge. I ordered some bento boxes and a few tools to test the waters. I've been so inspired by some of the bento lunches I've come across in my searches, and I can't wait to start making my own. The first couple are going to be pretty rough as I'm not working with much until my ordered supplies come in, but we'll see how it goes.
Here's what I've ordered so far:
* 2 original size (5 compartment) bento boxes.
These are pretty big in size, and I'm sure we'll need some smaller boxes down the road, but for M's lunch I think they'll be perfect. I had a list of criteria that I needed met in a bento box and these met them all (dishwasher safe, BPA and phthalate free, and lots of compartments). Plus I got a steal of a deal at Solutions! This is a link to the Goodbyn site where you can read all out them. This is where I ordered from on sale now for $17.99 plus free shipping until 10/6!
* Picks, Sauce Containers and Cutters from All Things For Sale. Unlike most online stores I've come across that carry a wide variety of bento supplies All Things For Sale ships from San Francisco, CA instead of Japan which means the items arrive a lot sooner and shipping is much cheaper.

Sandwich/Meat/Cheese Cutters
Face Cutters
(So excited to get this & try it out)
Food Picks
Sauce Containers
* Icing Eyes! How cute are these? I found the best price on eBay ($1.35 plus $2.00 s/h for 80 eyes.) Super excited for them to arrive. In looking at other bentos for inspiration I've noticed they really make the sandwich/animal stand out plus I know my kids will kick such a kick out of them.
